Handling everything within an hour - immigration, customs, change of terminals, long walks, etc. Regarding layovers in Houston: I avoid Houston because of the typically short, hour or less layovers. However, I had a couple of hours down-time between flights. I just when through this routine yesterday as I arrived in Mexico and connected to a flight to Leon. All of this can be accomplished if there are few other international flights arriving at the same time, it's a time of day when there aren't crowds of other air travelers moving about and you have some luck with you. Then, you walk to your departure gate which could be some distance away. ![]() Then you find the display monitors to locate your departure gate, which may or may not be listed and you'd have to wait until it is. You then go upstairs and pass through, once again, security. The bags then will work their way through the bowels of the airport and someone will direct them to your flight. After customs, in T2, you stand in line to place your bags (yourself) onto a conveyor belt. In my experience, under the best of circumstances it will take 30 minutes to clear Immigration and Customs. As for layover time arriving in Mexico City and taking a flight into the interior of Mexico: one hour is cutting it very short. The best answer regarding connecting flight baggage transfer (from an airport in Mexico through Mexico City to an international flight) will come from the airline you are flying. ![]()
